Avg8.0 update issue

You can't boot at all using any of the safe mode options, forcing a Windows re-install. This is a very important issue for an anti-virus program - If something gets onto your system somehow and just renames avgsrdisk. The only way round this without a complete Windows re-install is to get into Dos mode via the Windows recovery disk If you have one and re-instate avgsrdisk.

This is a serious security problem. Best Answer chosen by Ron Newfield. Ron Newfield They are not going to fix this. This was first reported over 6 months ago and they say they can't even reproduce the problem, despite many people reporting the same problem on various operating systems. All they need to do is delete or rename avgsrdisk. If anyone is doing a complete re-install of Windows for any reason, then just delete or rename avgsrdisk.

Can you assist me please? I dont have it set to "Automatically start on log on", and I would like it to not start on auto.. Thanks very much Colin. Best Answer chosen by Colin Roberts. The slowness with internet speed with VPN turned on is an expected behavior.

This is because VPN encrypts traffic and data before sending it to a server. Depending on the distance and capacity of the server, this process may cause a slightly slower, but safer, internet connection. I cant think of any other solution that might help. Many people have reported this to avg and they are wll aware of it, they have mentioned that they will come up with a fix soon.

I think that you will have to wait until further update from avg for fixing this issue. Since installing avast i haven't faced a single issue. It gets updated without any issue, i really dont think that there is any point in waiting for an update from avg. Replies: 6 Last Post: , PM. Replies: 6 Last Post: , AM. Replies: 4 Last Post: , PM. Update problem bdd! I will also email AVG and see what they say, but wondered if anyone else has had this happen to them as well?

I did an update by right clicking on my system tray and AVG updated safely this time. No problems when I rebooted. It is the 'free' version so I couldn't contact them. I had the same problem as RicardoBathUK on my wife's vista laptop. All I had to do was update AVG and everything ran fine.

I just installed AVG 8 a couple of days ago and today after it updated it keeps on asking for a re start. I did it three times till I finally turned it off. Did it update after each restart?
