They can absorb orbs to get more energy and can digivolve into their more powerful champions and mega forms, and they come with some gorgeous 3D models that justify the new consoles.
The games are RPGs that center on collecting and Digivolving your own Digimon still, but Dawn and Dusk offer more variations to Digivolve your Digimon, and the story is more engaging than the first thanks to some original Digimon for each game. Coming in at second place is one of the games that heavily inspired Cyber Sleuth, as it ended up being a more polished version of the popular Digimon World series at its start. Digimon World 2 is substantially smoother, making it a much more enjoyable experience alongside the improved combat.

You may find it weird to include a newer game so low in a ranking, but Digimon Survive is just too exciting a concept not to talk about. Released on the PS2 as a sequel to the original Digimon Rumble Arena, this second installment had a lot of expectations surrounding it.
Among its best features were the expansive roster of 16 Digimon, which could all digivolve in the middle of the fight, expanding the roster to around 50 characters. Like its acclaimed predecessor, it was a bit unbalanced and not viable in a serious competitive sense, but it remains a fun party game with satisfying gameplay and nice visuals.
That said, the simple gameplay, coupled with beautiful graphics and over available Digimon was a hit among the younger audiences it was marketed towards, and many still cite the game as their favorite.
